This course is for pre-service or in-service teachers, who have ideally, already completed 6302 PTLLS (or equivalent) and wish to progress to the next stage of their Continuing Professional Development.

The achievement will enable holders to gain licensed practitioner status in the teaching (lifelong learning) profession, as an Associate Teacher (ATLS), in line with government reforms of the sector. 

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification.  The award is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Center or Learning Provider and for those delivering work based learning such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

All new or unqualified teachers who work with adult learners will need to achieve this qualification, in order to work towards Associate or Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills status (ATLS/QTLS).

Aims:

To understand the roles and responsibilities in relation to teaching

To understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within the candidate's specialist area

To plan, deliver and evaluate micro-teaching sessions or assessed practice in a real work environment

To understand the use of assessment methods and record keeping

Recommended guided learning hours; 48 to 61

Prior Knowledge, Attainment and/or Experience

Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Can read and communicate clearly and accurately enough to meet the requirements of their training
  • Have at least a Level 2 or equivalent in English and mathermatics
  • Be ICT literate 

Aims

The Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance is aimed at those who work directly with clients, providing advice, disseminating information and giving some guidance. They will be working within clear guidelines dealing with information that often needs to be adapted and interpreted for the client.

 Guided learning hours

We recommend that 139-144 guided learning hours provide a suitable course length for an ‘average’ learner at this level. Guided learning hours include direct contact hours, as well as other time when learners are completing work that has been agreed with teachers or training providers. 

To achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance, learners must achieve a minimum of 21 credits, 15 of which must be at Level 3 or above. Candidates must achieve 12 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 9 credits from the optional units.

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Advanced is the internationally recognized qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. ECDL has been designed to recognize individuals’ practical skills in using information technology in carrying out straightforward tasks in a range of contexts. This is a follow on course from ‘Level 2 ECDL Extra’, which further develops individuals’ knowledge, understanding and application of ICT for use at home and at work

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the internationally recognized qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. ECDL has been designed to recognize individuals’ practical skills in using information technology in carrying out straightforward tasks in a range of contexts. This is a follow on course from ‘Level 1 ECDL Essentials’, which further develops individuals’ knowledge, understanding and application of ICT for use at home and at work.

The study programme (Business studies with IT) are designed to prepare learners for successful study on a wide variety of programmes, in this case Business Studies/Administration, Information Technology, English, Maths and Employability Skills. 

The Access to HE 'Diploma in Business with Technology' is a Full Level 3 qualification, recognised by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and *accepted by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as one of the routes into University for adult learners who do not have the mainstream qualifications required to enter HE. Programmes are designed to prepare learners for successful study on a wide variety of degree programmes, in this case Business Studies with Technology.

The Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management have been developed to conform the requirements of the QCF, to meet the requirements of employers to meet the needs of learners and to respond to the needs of our centres.

These qualifications are not tied to any specific industry but deliver the skills, knowledge and understanding that meet the needs of managers in different sectors on a domestic and International platform.

The Access to HE Diploma (Business) is a Full Level 3 qualification, recognised by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and *accepted by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as one of the routes into University for adult learners who do not have the mainstream qualifications required to enter HE. Programmes are designed to prepare learners for successful study on a wide variety of degree programmes, in this case Business Studies/management.

Level 6 Business Management course  aims to help students to develop a basic understanding of management in the context of general business. The qualification will give learners  a theoretical understanding of management concepts and an overview of general business. It will equip learners to find employment in general business or to continue professional or academic studies in a related area.

Level 7 International Human Resource Management aims to provide grounding in the development of people in multinational organisations and to understand a range of factors that shape and influence the performance of an organisation. For example, the role human resource professionals can play in the successful design, implementation and use of new technologies at work that promote optimum working conditions for all workers. Furthermore, the programme enables students to manage change within the organisation and identify the human resource challenges and opportunities that face multinational organisations, such as how national and regional differences impact on the employment relationship.

Level 4 Diploma in Management course  aims to help students to develop a basic understanding of management in the context of general business. The qualification will give learners  a theoretical understanding of management concepts and an overview of general business. It will equip learners to find employment in general business or to continue professional or academic studies in a related area. 

ABE (Association of Business Executives) Level 6 Extended Business and Management Course aims to help students to develop a critical understanding of management in the context of general business. The qualification will give you a theoretical understanding of management concepts and an overview of general business. It will equip you to find employment with management prospects in general business or to continue your professional or academic studies in a related area.

The City & Guilds Diploma Level 3 course is for those who have been successful in achieving their Level 2 qualification in Plumbing and wish to undertake a supervisory role in this area. The learner will also hold Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English.

The CITB/SKILLS Diploma Level 3 course is for those who have been successful in achieving their Level 2 qualification in Bricklaying and wish to undertake a supervisory role in this area. The learner will also hold Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English.

Achievement of this course will enable learner to move towards employment in the Carpentry & Joinery trade and to QCF training.

The CITB/CSKILLS Diploma level 2 course is for those who have already been successful in achieving a Level 1 qualification in Painting & Decorating, or who are able to demonstrate considerable experience of Painting & Decorating skills prior to joining the course and ideally be working at or hold functional skills level 1 in Maths and English. Achievement of this course will enable learner to move towards employment in the Painting & Decorating trade and to QCF training.

The CITB/CSKILLS Diploma level 2 course is for those who have already been successful in achieving a Level 1 qualification in Plastering, or who are able to demonstrate considerable experience of Plastering skills prior to joining the course and ideally be working at or hold functional skills level 1 in Maths and English. Achievement of this course will enable learner to move towards employment in the plastering trade and to QCF training.

The CITB/CSKILLS level 1 course is for those who have little or no prior knowledge of Plastering, but think that they might wish to pursue a career and are looking at getting onto the first stage of working in construction and achieving that goal. No formal entry requirements are required.

The City & Guilds level 1 course is for those who have little or no prior knowledge of Plumbing, but think that they might wish to pursue a career as a Plumber and are looking at getting onto the first stage of working in construction and achieving that goal. No formal entry requirements are required.

The CITB/CSKILLS level 1 course is for those who have little or no prior knowledge of Carpentry & Joinery, but think that they might wish to pursue a career and are looking at getting onto the first stage of working in construction and achieving that goal. The CITB/CSKILLS level 1 course is for those who have little or no prior knowledge of Bricklaying, but think that they might wish to pursue a career as a Bricklayer, and are looking at getting onto the first stage of working in construction and achieving that goal. No formal entry requirements are required.

Whilst there are no formal criteria, people who successfully complete apprenticeships and continue to work in the sector most often exhibit empathy, care and interest in others and want to work in the health or social care sector.

 This is a work-based qualification that combines competence and technical knowledge to give learners the practical competences, technical skills and sector-related knowledge they need to be able to carry out a job effectively. 

There are no entry requirements for this pathway, but apprentices may be required to work at heights or work in confined spaces.

This apprenticeship in youth work is a nationally recognised training programme that offers a route of entry into the Youth Work sector in England. It is appropriate for those looking to work in the private, public or voluntary and community sector. 

This apprenticeship requires the successful completion of a number of components, including a nationally recognised qualification, which is independently assessed and certificated. 

Successful completers will have the knowledge and skills that are applicable to their role, including the underlying skills to be able to operate as an effective employee in the Youth Work sector. 

Entry requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements or pre-determined entry routes for both apprenticeships.

Learners need to be working a minimum of 30 hours a week in a youth work environment. 

Guided Learning Hours: 432 hours (including Functional Skills and ERR)

This apprenticeship in youth work is a nationally recognised training programme that offers a route of entry into the Youth Work sector in England. It is appropriate for those looking to work in the private, public or voluntary and community sector. 

This apprenticeship requires the successful completion of a number of components, including a nationally recognised qualification, which is independently assessed and certificated. 

Successful completers will have the knowledge and skills that are applicable to their role, including the underlying skills to be able to operate as an effective employee in the Youth Work sector. 

Entry requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements or pre-determined entry routes for both apprenticeships.

Learners need to be working a minimum of 30 hours a week in a youth work environment.
